Te Mara Reo o Iranui, Kura Reo 2025

This year’s Kura Reo, Te Mara Reo o Iranui, was held in the heart of Uawa, bringing together kaiako, tauira, and whanau from across the region to celebrate and strengthen te reo ake o Ngati Porou. The four-day wananga marked Ngati Porou's third Kura Reo to be hosted within our rohe, a testament to the growing enthusiasm and commitment to language revitalisation among our people.
With an inspiring programme of immersive learning, korero tuku iho, and collaborative teaching, the event created a space for all generations to connect through reo and tikanga. Positive feedback and outcomes from participants highlighted the success of the kaupapa and the value of such wananga in nurturing confident, fluent speakers.
Toitu Ngati Porou was proud to be one of the key funders supporting this initiative, helping to elevate Te Mara Reo o Iranui to new heights. Our contribution ensured that kaiako and participants were well-resourced, that the event remained accessible to all, and that the wairua of te reo Maori continued to thrive within our communities.
Ngā mihi nui to all the funders - Te Mātāwai, Radio Ngāti Porou and Toitu Ngāti Porou.
