Strategic Pou

Te Kaupapa Rautaki provides the strategic direction of Te Runanganul o Ngati Porou. The Strategic Plan is structured around the concept of a Wharenui, with the foundation provided by Te Reo o Ngati Porou me ona tikanga.

The Wharenui is held up by five Pou representing the key strategic goals of the organisation - Rangatira, Whanau, Matauranga, Kaitiaki and Whairawa.

Our Guiding Principles:‍

‍Act in the interests of all Ngāti Porou members – ngā uri o ngā whānau me ngā hapū o Ngāti Porou mai i Potikirua ki Te Toka a Taiau.

‍Foster and uphold Te Reo ake o Ngāti Porou me ōna tikanga.‍

‍Practise tikanga-based stewardship – setting standards of governance that honour our mātauranga, relationships, and collective responsibilities.

Toitu is more than a trust. It’s a declaration that our future is ours to shape — rooted in whakapapa, driven by purpose, and powered by the language and tikanga of Ngāti Porou.
